Having a wonderful time working with acclaimed director and RSC alumni Joseph Charles. The play, written by playwright Barry Reckord, formerly of Royal Court, is an incredible exposé of what life may have been like In 1830’s Jamaica set in a back drop of slavery. I’m enjoying playing Chloe immensely, the writing is beautiful and at times deeply poetic. I am myself half Jamaican and there have been so many historical discoveries for me within this process. The legend of Annie Palmer a ‘witch’ who lived in Jamaicas infamous Rose Hall, one of the biggest slavers plantations and what happened in and around the great house. It’s astonishing how Reckord has made observations that are still absolutely relevant today. Woven with legend is religion, relationships and above all survival. Showing 3 – 30th April at Chelsea Theatre
So much fun shooting mo cap choreography sequence for award winning Director Kibwe Taveres. His previous short won at Sundance film festival and is heart wrenchingly beautiful as is this one. Without giving too much away it is a story of the human condition, or not so as it were, love and consumerism.
Filming took place at Andy Serkis’s (Gollam) Imaginarium Studio. It’s an incredible space and the process was really interesting. Thankfully they had a real time avatar for me to watch as I was performing so I could immediately reference my choreography in relation to how it looks as the character of the robot. State of the art CGI equipment was intrinsic in this working process. I’m hoping teleportation may well come soon 😉
Edit will be completed summer 2017 and hopefully appearing at South By South West Festival.
